Harnessing the Power of Essential Oils for Yourself and The Pets You Care For
Essential oils have been around for thousands of years to help support the nervous system and calm or energize the body and mind. Scientific studies have shown that high grade oils can be extremely effective for physical, emotional or mental ailments. The right kinds of oils can also be used on pets. Brooke is a passionate essential oils teacher and a non-salesy Young Living oils distributor and she’s here to share her extensive essential oil knowledge with you today.
In This Segment You Will Learn:
- How high-grade essential oils can support you mentally, emotionally and even physically
- Which oils can jumpstart energy and which ones can help you recover from stress and pet business burnout
- Scientific evidence that supports how using the oils topically and orally can assist your brain and nervous system to relax
- How and where to use the oils on your own pets and the pets you care for
- And much more!
I’m a part of a meditation group and occasionally the teacher will have a guest speaker speak on a topic. I’ll be honest. I did an inner groan when my meditation teacher said that there would be a guest speaker (Brooke) educating us on essential oils. I felt resistant because I’ve experienced essential oil distributors to be pushy and salesman-like evangelists but thankfully Brook was neither. She is a passionate essential oils teacher and I was captivated by both the oils and her explanations of what the various oils did for the body and nervous system.
During the mini oil workshop that Brooke did that night she worked with two people who were sitting on either side of me who were going through very challenging life experiences (the woman on my left had recently experienced the death of a close family member and the guy on my right had been hospitalized for heart complications a couple of weeks earlier).
Because I was in the middle of these two people I was smelling the hand-picked oils Brooke was using on them to comfort and soothe them and I felt my whole spirit relax. Brooke also passed around various oils for us to put on our wrists and inhale while she was working with the two people. While smelling the oils, I felt my whole body relax and my mind become calm. It was a profound experience and because of that I purchased the oils immediately so I could use them in my daily life.
I use the oil diffuser in my office every day and I love picking out that day’s special oil to help support and assist me in whatever I’m tackling that day. Using the oils has also helped immensely in the midst of what could be a stressful time due to all I have going on: planning my wedding, writing my next book and all the tasks involved in creating and hosting this conference. Regular use of the oils in addition to my other self care practices have helped me move through these life and business projects with grace, relaxation and ease. Thank you, Young Living and Brooke!

Aloha All, and thank you for this segment on essential oils. I’ve heard Young Living is the best. I do believe in essential oils, but I truly cannot afford them right now. Rural pet sitters can only charge about half what city pet sitters charge, and it’s not enough to live on. Until I snag another PT job to supplement my pet sitting (don’t ya just love that I put it that way instead of pet sitting supplementing another job, LOL?), I have been surviving by patronizing our local Food Bank (95% of my food comes from Food Bank), which allows me to afford food and medical care for my “kids” (4 cats and The Best Dog Ever). I’m trying to decide how to pay both my $3000 annual property tax AND $8000 roof repair. I have $2k to my name. You do the math. While I believe in the power of essential oils, it is a luxury I have no way of reaching at this time. BUT, I do like learning about them so that one day, when I do break through the poverty line to the fresh air of a comfortable living, essential oils will be one of my first luxury items to incorporate in my life.
Thanks so much for this very interesting video Kristin, and Brooke for explaining WHY YL is so much better than others (I’ve wondered for a long time).

I have to start by saying you have outdone yourself with this years conference!! I have been able to take so many valuable lessons from each of the speakers. The wonderful ideas on how to eat healthy while so busy is the direction I’m trying to move toward. This last week which was fall break for the schools had me going from 6:30 am until some nights 10:30pm. I began reverting to bad fast food eating. The conference had gotten me refocused. Thank you.
I love that you had Brooke talking about essential oils. I started dabbling in them through a pet client and realized some of the wonderful benefits. One tip I learned was to use peppermint oil diluted with a carrier oil and put it in a rollerball vial. I carry it with me all summer long for a quick mood pick me up and for the cooling effects of peppermint on a hot day. Plus the added benefit is that when you are sweaty from dog walking you smell good.
Lastly you want to know where we are when listening to the conference? Well I have my phone playing the audio in my pocket while I take care of some of my pet pals. Tryed to attach a picture but didn’t work.
I am so glad I found you Kristin and all the other pet Sitters out there. Your support and reassurance makes those really tough days seem a little more tolerable. Thank you so much!
