Build Your Foundation: Quick and Easy Healthy Breakfasts to Busy Pet Business Owners

Breakfast is sometimes the meal that busy pet business owners skip and that can lead to a lack of energy and focus. These breakfast ideas from healthy chef Marcella will get your day started with vim and vigor. She’ll be doing a demo in her Colorado kitchen for us today. Most of the breakfast items she demonstrates in her kitchen are not what most people have for breakfast—so come to this segment with an open mind and do try out the meals she shares in this segment.

Please note: In the interview with Marcella I mentioned the “avocado toast” but it’s actually the egg and hummus toast. (If you are a lover of avocado, we highly recommend putting it on the toast in addition to the hummus and egg.)

Kristin - MUSINGSKristin’s Musings:

I’ve known Marcella for years and have enjoyed a number of her yummy, healthy recipes. She’s a vibrant, sharp, firecracker of a woman which you will probably see from watching this video. In addition to being a healthy chef and helping women with their body image issues, she’s also a deeply spiritual person and worked at a few meditation retreat centers across the country as a head chef. I know these recipes are very unusual and some of you may be resistant to trying them out in your own kitchen but I really encourage you to check them out – and see how you feel after. Many people who have created these breakfast items have reported an increase of energy and a feeling of inner stability throughout their day after eating these food items. Perhaps you will too. Bon appetite!

    Aloha Kristin & Marcella,
Wow, some more good healthy recipes. Will incorporate some. I’m allergic to cow milk (the protein, not the lactose), so I can’t do yogurt or keifer, and I found Kombucha rips up my stomach something awful so I stear clear of that, too. But, I do eat almond milk yogurt and the like with live probiotics), and I LOVE sauerkraut. Marcella, what do you say to this: learned recently from a program about best sources of probiotics (with nutritional experts) that the little probiotic critters require fiber in our gut to survive and do their good work; w/o sufficient fiber, they die off unable to provide their health benefits for us. According to these experts, when sauerkraut is cooked, it breaks down the fiber, robbing the accompanying probiotics of the “food” THEY need to survive in our gut. So if we eat sauerkraut for the purpose of increasing our good gut bacteria, we should eat it raw (uncooked), oh and it has to be the kind that is NOT fermented with vinegar (Boar’s Head Sauerkraut is a NO-VINEGAR, and LOWER SALT brand, in the deli cold case). Same reason I believe (vinegar, which is a natural antimicrobial, probably kills off the good bacteria we WANT to eat in our sauerkraut).
I DO put various seeds, including chia, on my steel cut oatmeal! Sometimes I put cinnamon, I’ll have to add cardamom too now.
Never been a fan of miso soup, but I shall try your chickpea miso smoothie.
Thanks for the great reciepes Marcella, will give them all a try.
